Make sure it's actually a PDF file (not a Word doc or Final Draft file)
Check that the file isn't corrupted -- try opening it in another app first
Very large files (100+ pages) may take longer; give it a minute
The system uses AI to identify characters from dialogue formatting. If your screenplay uses non-standard formatting, some characters might be missed or misidentified.
Standard format: Character names in ALL CAPS, centered above their dialogue
If formatting is unusual, the system does its best but may not catch everything
Pronunciation issues: AI voices occasionally mispronounce unusual names or technical terms
Wrong emotion: The system infers emotion from parentheticals and context, but it's not perfect
Sync depends on the transcription matching the generated audio. If there are long pauses or unusual sounds, sync may drift slightly. This is rare but can happen with scripts that have many sound effects or non-dialogue elements.
Scripts are shared based on your group membership. Projects can be restricted to specific groups, so you'll only see projects your group has access to. If you can't see something:
Confirm you're signed into the correct account
Check with your account administrator that your group has access to the project
Check that the script wasn't deleted
Try refreshing or closing and reopening the app
If a script shows "Failed" status:
Try uploading again -- sometimes it's a temporary issue
Check that your PDF is a properly formatted screenplay
If it keeps failing, the PDF may have formatting the system can't parse
Before You Upload:
Use standard screenplay format -- The system understands industry-standard formatting best
Save as PDF -- Export from your screenwriting software (Final Draft, Highland, WriterSolo, etc.) rather than printing to PDF from Word
Remove non-screenplay pages -- Cover pages and cast lists are automatically detected, but cleaner files process faster
Choosing Voices:
Listen before committing -- Preview voices before applying
Think about the whole cast -- Voices should be distinct from each other
Consider the scene -- A gruff detective voice might be perfect for noir but wrong for romantic comedy
During Playback:
Use speed control -- Slow down for dense dialogue, speed up for action sequences
Take notes as you listen -- Ideas hit differently when you hear the words spoken
Listen more than once -- First pass for overall feel, second pass for specific issues
